Traveling this summer for a getaway? Taking a Staycation in your home? Here are some great books, both nonfiction and fiction, that you may enjoy:
Let Them by Mel Robbins
I strongly recommend this book for anyone who has trouble saying no, anyone who struggles to prioritize their own needs, and/or anyone with people-pleasing tendencies. The book is an easy read or listen and cites actual experts (psychiatrists, psychologists, PhD’s) from reputable institutions for its evidence based claims. Additionally, it gives numerous practical examples of the authors “let them” theory. Mel Robbins’ concept is simply stated as the title - “Let Them” and then she adds “Let Me”. Her easy to remember statements make a world of difference and teach us to handle our own emotions and let other people in our lives handle their emotions.
The Wedding People by Alison Espach
This book started off dark and had me convinced of a bad outcome for the main character. The strangest series of events occurs and turns the plot around quite literally from death to new beginnings. On many “must read” lists for 2024 including the Tournament of Books (https://www.tournamentofbooks.com/about) this book is an unexpected delight in character development and will really challenge how you think about modern day weddings and relationships. A fantastic read for any long plane ride or relaxing on the beach, sitting at a coffee shop, or discussing with a friend!
